Hockey Talkey

Will be happy to contribute in any way! Hopefully I will be able to do a lot more Hockey Talkey. I live in Ottawa, and this summer we'll have the National Aboriginal Hockey Tournament hosted by Jonathan Cheechoo and Carey Price. I should be able to get some good stuff from them. Thanks for the invite!

Habs Weekly Mashup - Week 11 by @cnadeau

This weeks Habs Weekly Mashup comes from a special guest, Habs Daily.

I must say, Habs Daily does a much better job of covering the Habs then I ever did or will ever do.  This video alone illustrates why Habs fans are the greatest ever!  Well I think so anyway.  :-)

Habs Daily, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us on The Hockey Zen.  Looking forward to future episodes.

Habs Weekly Mashup: Week 10 - Celebration!

There's a party goin' on right here
A celebration to last throughout the years
So bring your good times, and your laughter too
We gonna celebrate your party with you

Last week marked the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens and the week did not start off well with a 3-0 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs and then a 6-2 loss to the Sabres on Wednesday night.  However on Friday night the Habs celebrated in style.

First was an amazing ceremony that brought all the greats from the past who contributed to the success of the club during those 100 years.

Then after the ceremony the Habs took on their arch rivals the Boston Bruins.  After some close moments in the first period the Habs were able to take the game 5-1 on a 3 goal effort by Mike Cammalleri and some great goaltending by Carey Price.

Ok, so now the 100 year thing is over.  What do us Habs fans do now?  Hopefully we enjoy a tremendous run to the 2010 playoffs.  I know that is what I am looking forward to.  If we are lucky, the 100th anniversary party rubbed off on the players and they now feel the vibes from the greats that were there on Friday night.  Only time will tell.

What place will the Habs finish in the Eastern Conference?

Habs Weekly Mashup - Week 9

With a depleted line up going into tonight's game against the Leafs, the Habs are only 2 points out of a playoff spot. How are the Habs doing it? Please share your thoughts on how and why?

Some great blog post elaborating more on my thoughts in the video.

Habs Finding Ways to Defy Odds

It's insane somewhat to consider all the things that simply do not add up in looking at the Canadiens 5-3 win over the Blue Jackets Tuesday night. Some things make sense, other's don't, and certain things are quite revealing.  Read More

Habs Weekly Mashup - Week 8

Carey Price save on Matt Cullen in shootout win

Highlights from the Washington Game

This was the first game I thought the Habs looked like a legitimate hockey club. Hopefully the team can keep stepping it up with the injuries they are having. Jacques Martin deserves the coach of the year award to this point. The team played smart, hard and discipline. Great signs for Habs fans.

My three stars from Week 8: (note I mixed it up in the audio)

3.  Jacques Martin (yes a coach can be a star in my books)
2.  Mike Cammalleri
1.  Carey Price

Habs Weekly Mashup - Week 7

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly from Week 7.

The Good - Goaltending

  1. Carey Price played to his capabilities and showed that he is turning the corner...I think.  :-)
  2. Halak was solid in a 1-0 loss to the Calgary Flames.  Probably the best game I have seen him play.
  3. Plekanec's is playing like a bonafide center.

Halak Save on Rene Bourque

Price Save on Steve Sullivan

The Bad - Losing to many one on one battles

  1. Still getting out muscled by quality hockey teams, which leads to less puck control, therefore no quality pressure in the offensive zone.

The Ugly

  1. Scored 4 goals in 3 games and shut out twice.
  2. No depth offensively, time to groom and build some offensive players.
What do you think the Habs should do to become a competitor and really make a run for the playoff races?

Three stars for the week:
  1. Carey Price
  2. Thomas Plekanec
  3. Jaroslav Halak

Time for the Habs fans to be patient and remember it is not our birthright to win the Stanley Cup. Also, Paul Mara...wake up!

Habs Weekly Mashup - Week 5

Today I discuss - Brainwashed: Are the Habs really a 7-7 team and I had a bad dream that my son was wearing a Bruins hat.  Also, did I hear you say Hal Gill was a star?
