Are all records made to be broken? Even Gretzky's

I recently saw this highlight video of the "Great One" and it got me thinking.

Will his total points record ever be broken?  With all the press going on about Sawchuk's shutout record, did they ask the same question about Sawchuk's 103 shutouts?  I am sure at that point in time 103 shutouts seemed like a crazy amount of shutouts for a career.  But as we all know, Martin Brodeur will most likely break that record this season.

Here is one record I really find hard to believe will ever be broken.

Wayne Gretzky's 2,857 points is the most in the NHL. Gordie Howe is second in career points with only 1,850. That is more than 50 percent more points for Gretzky than Howe. If you look at all other major sports, there is no one who is first in a statistical category who has 50 percent more anything than the player who is 2nd.  You can take away all his goals and he would still own the record for career points.

So is this one record that is not made to be broken?  Will Gretzky's career points total record be broken?

Vote on the Worst Shootout Attempt by @cnadeau

I was watching "The Quiz" on TSN last night and the panel was talking about the worst shootout move in the NHL.  The panel consisted of Peter Laviolette, Bob Mackenzie and Darren Dreger.  They had some different choices, but I thought it would be fun to see what we all think is the worst shootout attempt.  Watch the videos and vote below.

Andrew Ladd shootout against the Blue Jackets

Thomas Vanek shootout against the Canucks

Dennis Wideman shootout against the Blackhakws
