Sidney Crosby Scores On Facebook Too

More then 3.5 million status updates were sent during the two significant goals in the Olympic hockey finals yesterday (see photo above).  This pace was twice the pace of the rest of the day.

The first peak, at 5:29 PM EST, is when Zack Parise of the U.S. tied the game with 24 seconds remaining in the game. The second, much larger peak took place at 5:54 PM EST, when Sidney Crosby scored the game-winning goal for Canada.

Another interesting Facebook stat, is after the game winning goal there was a Facebook page created for Crosby's Olympic Goal ♥.  As of this blog post, 198,705 fans have joined the page.  Amazing uptake for a fan page in such a short period of time.

Did you update your status during this peak?  If so, what was your update or your favourite update by a friend?  Please share.
